Wayne County High School Posts Near-Perfect Graduation Rate and High Readiness Scores in Latest State Accountability Release

Following the release of the 2025–2026 Kentucky Department of Education school accountability data, performance metrics across the Wayne County school district reveal a mixed landscape of high achievement at the high school level alongside academic support designations for elementary and middle schools. Wayne County High School earned an overall combined indicator rate of 71.9, placing it in an overall indicator rating of 4. The high school was anchored by exceptional scores in postsecondary readiness at 124.1 (rating of 5), which measures whether graduating seniors achieved academic or career benchmarks such as dual-credit coursework or industry certifications, and a 99.9 graduation rate (rating of 5), tracking the percentage of students graduating within four or five years.

The high school also achieved a school climate and safety rating of 68.4 (rating of 4), reflecting student and personnel perceptions of school environment and engagement. However, the high school carries a federal Targeted Support and Improvement (TSI) classification because specific student demographic subgroups—specifically English Learners plus Monitored—are underperforming and require targeted intervention.

At the middle school level, Wayne County Middle School recorded an overall combined indicator rate of 40.9 with an indicator rating of 2, reflecting a reading and mathematics rate of 40.1, measuring student proficiency on state-mandated assessments, and a science, social studies, and writing rate of 39.4, evaluating performance in non-core academic subjects and on-demand writing. Despite maintaining a solid school climate and safety indicator rate of 66.8 (rating of 4), the school is designated under Comprehensive Support and Improvement (CSI) because it falls in the bottom 5 percent of all schools statewide based on overall performance.

Meanwhile, the district’s elementary institutions—Monticello Elementary School and Bell Elementary School—each posted identical overall combined indicator rates of 46.5 with a rating of 2.
