(WKYT) – UPDATE: James Farthing pled not guilty to charges of burglary and marijuana possession.

His next court date is scheduled for April 27.
ORIGINAL STORY: A man who won Kentucky’s $167 million Powerball is back in jail after allegedly burglarizing a residence on Kenesaw Drive, according to court documents.
James Farthing was arrested Saturday, March 28, on burglary and marijuana possession charges.
According to an arrest citation, Farthing unlawfully entered a residence, where a victim said she saw the suspect at the side door on her cameras.
The victim told police she heard a loud noise, as if a door had been busted open, according to the citation.
She also told officers she was missing $12,000 in cash that she stored in the residence after the suspect unlawfully entered.
Officers found Farthing’s vehicle in the Red Mile Gaming parking lot after police said he fled the scene before officers arrived. Police found Farthing inside the facility.
Upon taking Farthing into custody without incident, the citation said police saw a burnt marijuana blunt in the ashtray of his vehicle.
A search of the car yielded more marijuana and marijuana blunts, police said.
In April 2025, Farthing was arrested in Florida on misdemeanor charges of battery and resisting an officer. He pled guilty to his charges earlier this month.
Farthing still has active cases in Kentucky for a hit-and-run in Fayette County and an intimidation charge in Scott County.
Farthing is due in court Monday, March 30 at 1 p.m. for an arraignment hearing.
This is a developing story.
