This Friday January 9th at 4pm is the final day to file for a position on the May primary Ballot at the County Clerk’s Office.
Other important dates associated with this years Primary as as follows:
April 4, 2026 (12:01AM local time) Online portal is open to request an absentee ballot by mail. Click on the link to request govote.ky.gov
May 5, 2026, 11:59PM (local time) – Last day to request a mail-in absentee ballot. Voters are encouraged to request well before the deadline if they know they will be voting absentee.
All mail-in absentee ballots must be received by 6:00PM Local Time, on Election Day, May 19, 2026 to be counted. Voters are highly encouraged not to wait until Election Day to hand deliver their absentee ballot. Cast your ballot as soon as you receive it. Do not delay!
Drop boxes are available in each county to hand deliver your ballot. To find out where the drop box is in your county, voters should visit the State Board of Elections website at: govote.ky.gov
In-person, excused absentee voting May 6, 7, 8, and May 11, 12, 13, 2026. To find out when and where in-person, excused absentee voting will take place in their county, voters should visit the State Board of Elections website at: govote.ky.gov
Early in-person, no excuse absentee voting will take place Thursday, May 14, Friday, May 15, and Saturday, May 16, 2026. To find out when and where early voting will take place in their county, voters should visit the State Board of Elections website at: govote.ky.gov Voters that know they wish to take advantage of early in-person absentee voting are encouraged not to wait until May 16th to cast their ballot.
