According to Wayne County Sheriff Tim Catron two separate continuing investigations by the Sheriff’s Office has resulted in two arrests.
Deputy Brad Tucker continued his investigation into a residential burglary that occurred on South Kentucky Highway 1275 back on August 5, 2025, resulting in him obtaining a Wayne County District Court Complaint Warrant of Arrest for a Travis Keith. After receiving the complaint warrant Deputy Tucker along with all Wayne County Sheriff Office Deputies continuously searched for Keith. On Monday morning August 18, 2025, at approximately 10 am Deputy James Barnett obtained information of a possible location of Keith which was on the Twyford Point Road. Deputy Barnett along with Deputies Tucker, Thompson and Sheriff Catron responded to that location knowing Keith normally fled from law enforcement. At that location Keith was taken into custody without incident.
Deputy Barnett arrested Travis Keith of Monticello, KY. on the Wayne County District Court Complaint Warrant of Arrest on the charge of burglary-2nd degree. While executing the arrest Deputy Barnett located a hypodermic syringe, a small glass container with a liquid substance and a piece of cotton along with a marijuana cigarette. Keith stated that the liquid substance was methamphetamine. Deputy Barnett then charged Keith for possession of a controlled substance-1st degree (methamphetamine), possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana. Keith was also arrested on a Kentucky Parole Board Parole Violation Warrant of Arrest for absconding parole supervision, failure to attend treatment for substance abuse and failure to report to Parole Officer as directed.
Keith was lodged in the Wayne County Detention Center.
In the second continued investigation, Deputy Valis Smedley continued his investigation into a man he had charged on August 17, 2025, for stealing and destroying rental property. While checking into the man’s background Deputy Smedley learned that this man was convicted of a sex crime in the state of Illinois previously and was required to register as a sex offender in which ever state he was living in. The man had not register in Kentucky as a sex offender although he had been living in Kentucky for an extended period of time. After confirmation Deputy Smedley then charged and arrested Hunter J. Ash of Monticello, KY. for failure to comply with sex offender registration here in Kentucky.
Ash remained lodged in the Wayne County Detention Center.
Deputy Smedley is continuing his investigation with more criminal charges possibly pending.
