According to Wayne County Sheriff Tim Catron a Monticello man has been arrested on alcohol and gun related charges.
On January 5, 2025, Deputies Valis Smedley and Allen Cash were dispatched to a residence located on Cedar Bluff Circle Road to answer a complaint of a male subject intoxicated with a handgun. Both Deputies arrived on scene at approximately 5:47 pm. The Deputies were informed by the residence owner that the male was intoxicated and started firing a handgun during the previous night from the front porch. The homeowner stated that the male had threaten to kill him if he called law enforcement and would have a shootout with them if they showed up. The homeowner also told the Deputies before they arrival the male had fired his gun from inside the residence then walked off outside. Deputies found several bullet casings on the front porch and one inside the residence. Deputies began searching for the male subject by following his shoe prints in the snow. While doing so they located a handgun in a holster struck on a tree branch. A short distance away both Deputies made contact with the male and was taken into custody.
Jason Piercy of Monticello, KY. was charged with and arrested for alcohol intoxication in a public place, terroristic threatening-3rd degree and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon. Piercy was transported to the Wayne County Detention Center to be lodged. While leaving the Detention Center Piercy started threatening the Deputies by saying once he was released from the jail Deputy Smedley was next on his list and named several other people he was going to kill and burn them out of their houses.
Piercy was then charged with an additional charge of terroristic threatening-3rd degree.
