The Monticello City Council met Monday for a regular scheduled meeting. The Council heard an update from the city’s code enforcement which noted that there were no new violations resulting in citations and that most violations are being taken care of.
The Council gave unanimous approval to naming the street adjacent to City Hall from Main Street as Greg Latham way. Latham served as the city clerk treasurer for many administrations over several years, he succumbed to cancer late last year.
A budget update was given which showed the budget used currently at 27% and all expenses are on target.
The mayor appointed three council members and will appoint two citizens to serve on a committee to review any billing discrepancies at the Monticello Utility Commission since the rates recently increased.
It was reported a donation totaling $25,000 had been received to construct pickle ball courts at the park.
Halloween trick or treat hours were set for October 31st from 5:00 – 8:00pm
