Kentucky school was on soft lockdown after report mistakes leaves for ‘hunter’ in safety orange

. (WKYT) – Two Jackson County schools were placed on a soft lockdown Thursday morning after people reported a “hunter” in the area that turned out to be leaves.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office said a school resource officer was notified of a possible “hunter” wearing safety orange walking into the wood line of Jackson County High School, as well as a suspicious vehicle parked in the same area.

As a result, Jackson County High School and McKee Elementary School were placed on soft lockdown.

Deputies on scene determined that the vehicle had broken down and had been in the parking lot for a couple of days, according to the sheriff’s office.

The sheriff’s office also said that the reported “hunter” in safety orange was “just leaves on the hillside.”

Jackson County High School and McKee Elementary School are no longer on soft lockdown, and the sheriff’s office said there is no active threat.
