(WKYT) – A father and two children were hit by a car while trick-or-treating Saturday night in London, police said.
The three were walking along Middleground Way, off U.S. 25, when a 17-year-old driver hit them just after 7 p.m., police said.
Lt. Travis Dotson of the London Police Department said the area has a lot of traffic and walkers at that time.
“They were out having fun,” Dotson said. He said the driver “was just traveling at a slow speed” and “just did not see them.”
The children, ages 11 and 12, and their father had minor injuries, including scrapes, bumps and bruises. All three were treated and released from the local hospital. Police do not suspect the driver was on his phone or under the influence of anything. Police said it was an accident. Because the driver is a juvenile, police are not releasing his name.
Dotson offered advice for drivers.
“My advice would be, slow down, and look out,” he said. “During this time, Thanksgiving, and Christmas, there’s going to be a lot more holiday traffic out.”
