Monticello Police Arrest Six in Theft Investigation

The Monticello Police Department continues to investigate a major theft and property damage case involving the Country Farm and Home storage building, formerly known as the old Beldin’s building.
The investigation began when employees entered the property and discovered extensive damage to the building, along with several missing items.
Now, here’s where things get interesting…
As luck would have it, a local business contacted authorities after individuals began attempting to sell suspicious amounts of copper and scrap metal.
And wouldn’t you know it… the items matched property stolen from the Country Farm and Home storage building.
Apparently, somebody thought tearing apart a building and turning the evidence into spending money was a brilliant business strategy.
That’s not a side hustle. That’s a felony with a recycling program.
SIX ARRESTS… AND COUNTING!
As a result of the investigation, the following individuals have been arrested:
Michael Stephenson
Jason Casada
Brian Casada
Thomas Lyons
Julie Towery
Charles Green
All six individuals have been charged with:
-Burglary 3rd Degree
-Theft by Unlawful Taking — More Than $10,000
-Engaging in Organized Crime
With six arrests already made and additional arrests anticipated, this investigation is starting to have more cast members than a Fast & Furious movie.
Unfortunately, this franchise comes with court dates instead of movie premieres.
SPECIAL THANKS TO IRON MAN RECYCLING!
The Monticello Police Department would like to extend a sincere thank-you to Iron Man Recycling for recognizing suspicious activity and contacting law enforcement.
Their cooperation and willingness to do the right thing played an important role in identifying individuals connected to this investigation.
This is exactly why strong relationships between local businesses and law enforcement matter.
The investigation remains active, and additional arrests are anticipated.
