(WKYT) – The federal trial over the death of a woman at the Whitley County Detention Center has entered its second week.
A lawsuit was filed regarding the 2021 death of 32-year-old Terri Beth Mays by her mother, Tammy Webb, according to a report by the Lexington Herald-Leader.
The suit alleges that the detention center and its healthcare provider, Southern Health Partners, failed to give Mays her seizure medication and failed to properly check on her during her eight-day incarceration.
However, on Tuesday it was revealed that the Kentucky State Medical Examiner ruled the death an accident and said that Mays died from dehydration with drug use contributing, according to the Herald-Leader.
