Residents Report Water Leaks and Mold at Hazard Apartment Complex

Residents of Cherokee Hills Apartments in Hazard say they continue to experience serious maintenance issues, including persistent water leaks, plumbing problems, and mold growth throughout the complex.

Several tenants reported ongoing water intrusion inside their apartments, claiming repair requests have gone unresolved despite repeated complaints.

Residents and family members also described widespread mold concerns, alleging that the conditions have contributed to respiratory problems and other health issues.

One family member said she discovered extensive moisture damage and mold while collecting belongings from a relative’s apartment, describing standing water and signs of long-term leakage inside the unit.

According to public housing records, Cherokee Hills received a score of 30 out of 100 during its most recent inspection by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) on January 6, 2026. A score at that level is considered failing and requires additional review.

Residents say they hope the reported issues receive attention and that needed repairs will be made to improve living conditions at the complex.
