East Kentucky Power praises EPA repeal of power plant emissions rule

(WKYT) – The Environmental Protection Agency has repealed a regulation limiting greenhouse gas emissions from new gas plants and existing coal plants.

East Kentucky Power Cooperative is praising the decision.

An EPA spokesperson said repealing the rule will save about $310 billion over the next 20 years.

EKPC said the EPA is helping power plants by striking down the regulations and that the move will make electricity more affordable.

Environmentalists warn the move will harm public health.
