(WKYT) – Congressman Andy Barr (R) of Kentucky’s Sixth Congressional District is urging President Donlad Trump to approve Kentucky’s request for a major disaster declaration following deadly flooding that struck the commonwealth in June.
Four people died in the flooding — three in Madison County and one in Jackson County.
Nineteen counties and 13 cities declared states of emergency following the severe weather.
“Kentucky families have endured an extraordinary stretch of severe weather and many communities are facing a long road to recovery,” Barr said.
He added that the damage underscores the urgent need for federal help.
