(WKYT) – A Mercer County community will select a new mayor on Tuesday.
According to an agenda published by the city of Burgin, its city council will choose a new mayor during a 6:30 p.m meeting.
The city council accepted the resignation of former Mayor Jamie Keebortz’s at a meeting last Thursday.
According to the Harrodsburg Fire Department’s website, Keebortz is now the department’s fire chief. Someone cannot hold both a mayoral and fire chief position at the same time under Kentucky law.

The council will also discuss departmental reports.
There will be no discussion about annexations. The council approved an annexation ordinance last week that could allow a data center in the community.
