From Attention Churches & Businesses Located Within the Monticello City Limits!!
While our officers are on patrol during the late-night and early-morning hours, they routinely conduct business security checks throughout the city.
These checks may include:
• Checking exterior doors to ensure they are secure (when accessible)
• Inspecting the perimeter for any security concerns
• Looking for anything unusual that may need attention
After completing a security check, our officers will leave a white business check card in your door to let you know we stopped by. These checks are all logged through dispatch. We know hearing “business check” over the radio may not be as exciting as a pursuit call, but we like to keep them on their toes.
We do our best to check every church and business within the city, but occasionally we may miss one or fall behind on our rotation.
If your church or business has never received a security check, or if it’s been a while since we’ve stopped by, send us a message on this page with your business or church name and address, and we’ll be happy to add you to our patrol rotation.
Just to be clear: This service is for closed businesses and churches only. If we check your door and you’re standing on the other side wondering who is knocking at 3 a.m., don’t worry—we’re probably just as surprised as you are.
And don’t worry, we promise we’re only checking your doors… not judging how long that “temporary” Christmas decoration has been hanging on your building.
We’re proud to partner with our local businesses and churches to help keep our community safe—even while you’re closed.
As always, if our officers find anything suspicious during a security check, we’ll make every effort to contact the appropriate keyholder as quickly as possible.
