(WKYT) – Burgin City Council accepted Mayor Jamie Keebortz’s resignation during a meeting on Thursday, July 9.
Under Kentucky law, council must fill the vacancy within 30 days. During Thursday’s meeting, council voted to have Councilmember George Hensley chair the meeting in absence of a mayor.
Council also held a first reading of an ordinance that would annex property and potentially pave the way for a data center project.
