. (WKYT) – Gov. Andy Beshear sent a letter Wednesday, July 8, to Sen. Mitch McConnell’s office requesting an update on the senator’s health.
A news release from the governor’s office says “limited” information has been shared from McConnell’s official office after the senator was admitted to the hospital on June 14.

“Allowing speculation to continue in the media is not fair to the Senator or to Kentuckians,” Beshear said, “and my hope is that this provides him the opportunity to share the information in a transparent manner, direct from the source. I wish him a safe and speedy recovery.”
The letter asks that McConnell fully update Kentuckians regarding the status of his health, saying public officeholders have a commitment to their constituents to be transparent and represent them.
“I believe this requires clear communication about one’s ability to serve,” Beshear said in his letter.
