Shooting Incident Led to Wayne County Man Being Arrested

According to Wayne County Sheriff Tim Catron a Wayne County man has been arrested following a shooting incident occurring on July 3, 2026.

 

At approximately 1:30 pm, on that date Wayne County 911 Dispatch Center received an emergency call from the victim stating he was driving himself to the hospital and was being followed by a male that had intentionally shot him The victim gave a description of the vehicle the shooter was driving. Wayne County Sheriff Office Deputy Jerry Coffey observed that vehicle traveling on West KY. Highway 92. Deputy Coffey then conducted a traffic stop on that vehicle and identified the driver. Deputy Coffey detained the male driver and also located a .380 handgun.

 

Monticello Police Chief Josh Asberry met with the victim at the Wayne County Hospital. The victim stated and signed a written statement to Chief Asberry that Migel Roman Rodriguez, the driver of the vehicle was the person that shot him during a gathering event at a residence in the area of KY. Highways East 92 and 789.

 

Deputy Joe Horn conducted interviews with witnesses at that location with several stating both the victim and Roman Rodriguez were present at the time when the shooting took place. After they heard 2 gun shots the victim left in his own car with Roman Rodriguez following him.

 

At approximately 1:42 pm, Deputy Horne charged and arrested Roman Rodriguez of Monticello, KY.  for assault-1st degree and wanton endangerment-1st degree (discharged of a firearm). Deputy Horne then lodged him in the Wayne County Detention Center.

 

On July 4, 2026, at approximately 10:03 pm, Wayne County Sheriff Office Deputy Jerry Meadows was dispatched to a residence located on Barrier Cemetery Road by the Wayne County 911 Dispatch Center of a female attempting to gain entrance into that residence. Before Deputy Meadows arrival he was notified that the female had gained entrance. Once on scene Deputy Meadows learned that the female was in a previous relationship with one of the males inside and after gaining entrance she assaulted that male.

 

Deputy Meadows then charged and arrested Chantel Asberry of Monticello, KY. for public intoxication-controlled substance (excludes alcohol), resisting arrest, burglary-2nd degree, criminal mischief-2nd degree, assault-4th degree (domestic violence), and terroristic threatening-3rd degree.

 

 

The Wayne County Sheriff Office also arrested Roland Lopez Pastor of Monticello, KY. Lopez Pastor was charged with no operator’s license, failure of owner to maintain required insurance, failure to produce an insurance card, failure to notify address change to the Department of Transportation, reckless driving, disregarding a traffic control device-traffic light, and failure to or improper signal.

 

Asberry and Lopez Pastor were lodged in the Wayne County Detention Center.
