. (WKYT) – Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear announced on Thursday that the commonwealth saw a drop in serious crime for the second straight year.
2025 saw 207,189 serious offenses committed compared to the 225,537 committed in 2024, an overall decrease of 8%, according to the 2025 Crime in Kentucky report.
Arson offenses decreased by 24%.
Burglary/breaking and entering offenses were down 17%
Homicides decreased by 16%.
Stolen property offenses were down 14%.
Drug/narcotic offenses decreased 11%.
The commonwealth also saw substantial decreases in gambling (82%), prostitution (65%), consensual sex (39%), pornography/obscene material (27%), counterfeiting/forgery (27%) and robbery offenses (24%).
The state did see increases in extortion (61%), bribery (37%), animal cruelty (14%) and sex offenses (11%).
