(WKYT) – Kelly Frayley never met her father. Gary Frayley died in June 2000, months before she was born, after being struck by a car on Winchester Road in Powell County.
Kentucky State Police closed the case two years later, ruling his death an accident. But 26 years after his death, his daughter is searching for answers that the police report never provided.
“I’m just wanting to know like did anyone like see anything or heard anything that is like not included in the police report,” Kelly Frayley said.
Gary Frayley left a party where he had been drinking and was likely heading to a family member’s house when he was hit by a car, according to the family. The circumstances surrounding his death remain unclear.
Kelly Frayley said the loss has affected her family for decades. Her mother died in 2018.
“It’s so weird to say this but I still think that my mom would be here, and I still would think it would change the circumstances of everyone just having so much loss around everything and it really just broke a lot of our family apart,” Kelly Frayley said.
Despite the years that have passed, Kelly Frayley said it is never too late to seek closure. She is asking anyone with information about her father’s death to come forward.
“It would just make me feel better,” she said. “This is a story that I’ve been told like since I was like a little kid — you know your dad got hit by a car. He’s dead. We don’t know.”
