Don Kay Spann was born in Monticello, Kentucky, on March 25, 1945, and departed this life on Thursday, June 19, 2026, at the age of 81 at his home. He was the son of the late Guy Spann and Maryann (Worley) Spann.
He is survived by his loving wife, Janice Spann; daughter, Donna Kimberly Moore (Dr. Jonathan Moore); stepson, Brian Stamper (Tracy); sister, Carol Sue Allen; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren, along with many family members and friends who mourn his passing.
In addition to his parents, Guy and Maryann Spann, he was preceded in death by his brother, Guy Reece Spann, and his brother-in-law, Lonald Allen.
Don served in the Army during the Vietnam War, as a medic on the front lines. He retired as a firefighter in Fayette County and spent 30 years building homes throughout Lexington and Monticello. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Memorial services will be held privately. Military honors will be provided by our local DAV Chapter 105.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made as donations to Hospice of Lake Cumberland.
