Sen. Mitch McConnell recovering, will not vote this week

(WKYT)Senator Mitch McConnell continues to recover but will not be on the Senate floor this week.

According to staff, the senator will “not be voting this week.”

But he is continuing to work.

“Senator McConnell is still working closely with staff on Senate business and Kentucky matters as he continues his recovery,” staff said in a written statement.

McConnell was admitted to the hospital on June 14, but no information has been released as to why.

He was previously hospitalized in February after experiencing flu-like symptoms.

Over the years,, McConnell has had several reported falls at the Capitol, including one in December 2024 that kept him away from the Senate.

McConnell, who has represented Kentucky in the U.S. Senate since 1985, is not seeking reelection.

U.S. Rep. Andy Barr (R) and Charles Booker (D) are vying to replace him in the fall.
