Honoring Our Retirees
During the June Board of Education meeting, Wayne County Schools paused to honor and recognize a group of extraordinary people and say thank you.
A reception and honoring ceremony celebrated the retirement of some of our finest educators and staff, people who gave decades of their lives to the children and families of our community.
Thousands of children have passed through their classrooms, offices, and hallways. They have witnessed decades of first days and graduations. Many have had countless moments where they said exactly the right thing to exactly the right kid at exactly the right time and impacted their lives forever. That is a career you can retire from with pride for a job well done.
We honor and celebrate:
Lula Anderson — 27 years | Malissa Atkinson — 22 years | Amy Clark — 31 years | Pamela Clark — 24 years | Helen Dalton — 30 years | Dwight Dobbs — 46 years | Brian Ford — 28 years | Glenda Gregory — 7 years | Kelli Hammond — 29 years | Debra Hargis — 29 years | Ann Guffey Hickman — 19 years | Valerie Hutchinson — 29 years | Melissa Jones — 30 years | Mary McLean — 27 years | Lisa Meredith — 32 years | Sandy Riddle — 32 years | Paula Sexton — 20 years | Shawn Stinson — 27 years | Shawn Thompson — 26 years | Lisa West — 27 years | Johnny Young — 36 years
To each of you: Wayne County is better because you stayed.
We wish you rest, joy, and every good thing in your next chapter.
