Multiple Individuals taken to the hospital from Sr. Citizens Center

At approx. 11:54 Thursday, Monticello-Wayne County 911 received a call of an incident involving multiple individuals experiencing dizziness, weakness, and nausea at the Senior Citizens Center. First responders from Wayne County EMS, Wayne County Emergency Management, Monticello Fire Dept., and Monticello Police Dept. arrived on scene at approximately 12:01 and initiated medical evaluations and hazard assessments.
At this time, the cause of the symptoms has not been confirmed. Out of caution, the affected area has been secured while environmental monitoring and air-quality testing are being conducted by the Monticello Fire Dept., State Fire Marshal’s Office, and Wayne County Emergency Management.
Several individuals have been transported to Wayne County Hospital, Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital, for further evaluation. No fatalities have been reported.
“Our priority is ensuring the safety of everyone in and around the affected area,” said County Judge Executive Scott Gehring. Emergency Management Director Bubby Corder stated, “We are working closely with fire, EMS, law enforcement, and public health officials to determine the source of the incident.”
