Living History Event Coming to Monticello

Downtown Monticello will step back in time this summer as part of a special event marking the nation’s 250th anniversary. The celebration, titled “1776 Days – Live History,” is scheduled for Saturday, July 18, 2026, and will transform the city’s center into a living snapshot of Revolutionary‑era America.  Organizers say visitors can expect historical reenactments, interactive displays, and a variety of themed attractions including an apothecary, blacksmith shop, courthouse, coffee house, and soldier camp. The event invites guests to meet reenactors, explore historical sites, and experience small‑town patriotism as Monticello honors 250 years of American independence. The celebration is presented by the Wayne County Historical Committee and local partners under the banner of America 250
