According to Wayne County Sheriff Tim Catron an ongoing investigation into children abused by having duct tape placed over their mouth and nose areas on April 28, 2026, by their mother Anna Bencosme has resulted in the other parent being charged and arrested now.During Deputy Valis Smedley’s investigation into the incident, it led him to apply for and obtain a Wayne County District Court Complaint Warrant of Arrest for the husband of the children, Gabriel Bencosme.
On May 6, 2026, Deputy James Barnett located Bencosme at his residence located on Kentucky Highway 3286 and placed him under arrest for the Complaint Warrant charging him with wanton endangerment-1st degree, endangering then welfare of a minor, and failure to report child depend neglect/abuse-1st offense.
Bencosme was lodged in the Wayne County Detention Center on a $10,000.00 Cash or 2 times Property Bond.
