(WKYT) – A London police officer reportedly slapped a man after his arrest, according to the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office.
Police responded on April 22 to a call about an “out-of-control” man who had walked away from an Inspired Living treatment facility. The man and the caller moved to a field behind a Lowe’s when the man began throwing rocks at the caller, police say.
The London Police Department arrived before sheriff’s deputies, and were in a physical struggle with the man, according to police. A deputy aided in restraining the man, and the London Police Department took him into custody, authorities say.
Sheriff’s deputies say they were made aware later that day that a London officer had slapped the man while he was in police custody. After a review of the incident by the sheriff’s office command staff, the information was reported to the FBI.
