Russell County Man Arrested in Wayne County

According to Wayne County Sheriff Tim Catron a Russell County, KY. man has been arrested on multiple charges including driving under the influence.
At approximately 11 pm, on May 2, 2026, Deputy Zachary Bybee observed a vehicle operating carelessly crossing the painted roadway traffic lines numerous times. Deputy Bybee then activated his emergency equipment in an attempt to stop this vehicle. The vehicle failed to stop and continued on then pulling into the Walmart parking lot where it came to a stop. While speaking with the driver Deputy Bybee detected an odor of alcoholic beverage coming from the male driver. Deputy Bybee then administered field sobriety test with the driver failing those test.
Deputy Bybee charged and arrested Cody Valentin of Russell Springs, KY. for operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, careless driving, failure of non-owner to maintain required insurance, failure to produce an insurance card, no registration receipt, fleeing or evading Police-1st degree (motor vehicle), wanton endangerment-2nd degree and no operator’s license.
After being transported to the Wayne County Detention Center Valentin refused a test of his breath for concentration level of alcohol in his body. He was then lodged there.
