Structure Fires & and more reported Over the Weekend

Early this (Monday) morning Firefighter responded to a structure fire on Branch Road with one person trapped inside. First arriving units from Monticello Fire Department and Wayne County EMS were able to extricate the occupant from the structure. Lieutenant Brandon Gehring was able to locate the owners dog that was also trapped inside the smoke filled house. After the dog was brought outside Wayne County Judge Executive Scott Gehring was able to provide the dog with oxygen until the home owners father arrived. Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire without much damage to the residence. The home owner was transported by Wayne County EMS to the hospital for further treatment.

The Monticello Fire Department had a busy evening on Friday.
Firefighters responded to a structure fire on Morris Hill. Access was limited due to the rough terrain so only smaller brush trucks were able to get to the structure. Susie Volunteer Fire Department was called in to assist by bringing their two brush trucks.
Firefighters responded to a woods fire on Columbia Ave.
Firefighters responded to a one vehicle accident on Highway 90 at McCutchen’s Antiques.
Firefighters responded to a woods fire on Aderholt Rd with assistance from the Bronston Fire Department.
Firefighters responded to a report of a structure fire on Highway 3283. When units arrived they found a large controlled burn of brush.
Firefighters responded to a one vehicle accident on East Highway 92 with Wayne County EMS and Wayne County Sheriff Deputies. Nothing was ever found.
