Tourist Commission Meeting Recap

The Monticello Tourist Commission met for a regular monthly meeting on Tuesday March
17th at 4:30PM at the Monticello Wayne County Chamber of Commerce o ice. The Board
heard updates from the Executive Director Todd McFarland on events coming up. Spirit of
the Doughboy will be held on April 10th and Casting For Kids will be held on April 17th and
18th. The Board agreed to check on the availability of having the Kentucky Sports Radio
show to do a live remote in downtown Monticello in May. The Board was given information
on the Egg-Stravaganza Easter Egg Hunt at the park to be held April 4th at 1:00pm which is
free for all kids and presented by the Monticello Tourist Commission and the Alcohol
Beverage Control O ice in Monticello. The Board was also informed about the Magic and
Hypnotist show coming up on May 9th at the Wayne County High School Gym with all
proceeds going to the Wayne County Project Graduation.
The Board agreed to do a sponsorship of the High School Fishing World Finals and National
Championship to be held on Lake Cumberland in June.
The board had a long discussion on Spring Fest coming up May 15th and 16th in Downtown
Monticello. Free music will be provided along with events for the kids to do. Arts and
Crafts Vendor information along with Food Vendors will be posted on the Visit Monticello Ky
Facebook page in the next few days. Bands for the event were discussed and will be
announced once the contracts are completed.
Next meeting for the Monticello Tourist Commission will be April 21 at 4:30pm at the
Monticello Wayne County Chamber of Commerce O ice and is open to the public.
