The Monticello City Council will meet at 6pm this evening at City Hall for regular monthly business. Outside of routine departmental reports, the council will hear a municipal order that would establish the position of Assistant Chief of Police, defining duties, qualifications, and appointment procedures.
The council is then expected to approve the police chief, as current Chief, Joey Hoover is retiring. From there the council will approve the assistant chief.
