Last week, Monticello Elementary proudly hosted our own “Cardinal Olympics”, and it was an incredible celebration of school spirit and learning!
Throughout the week in enrichment classes, students participated in the Winter Olympic-themed activities and learned about the history and traditions of the Olympics. In PE, each homeroom competed in a biathlon obstacle challenge. In Science, students demonstrated perseverance by working together to build the tallest tower in a STEM competition. In Library, teams competed to log the most reading time during the week. In Art, each homeroom designed an Olympic-themed T-shirt, and in Music, students created posters for a March-In Ceremony while learning about Winter Olympic traditions.
In addition to these activities, students modeled our Go CARDS expectations each day by demonstrating Perseverance, Discipline, Respect, and Teamwork. They showed outstanding sportsmanship, positive attitudes, and encouragement toward one another in every event. Certificates were given each day to students who modeled “Cardinal Olympic” expectations.
The week culminated in a special Cardinal Olympic Awards Ceremony, where students were recognized with gold, silver, and bronze medals, as well as and team spirit awards. We are so proud of our Cardinals for showing that they are truly Inspired, Driven, and Ready for Success!
