Sheriff Bobby Jones reports the arrest of Timothy Lewis, 36, of Eubank, after it was determined that Lewis caused injuries to his wife after setting her on fire.
Detective Branson Patterson with the Sheriff’s Office’s Criminal Investigation Division charged Lewis with Assault in the First Degree – Domestic Violence after investigating the complaint. The incident occurred on February 5 at the couple’s residence, following Lewis becoming upset that his wife, Mariah Lewis, was using a vape. Ms. Lewis told Det. Patterson that Lewis took the vape from her and attempted to set it on fire with a candle lighter. During the altercation, Lewis, still in possession of the lighter, was standing next to Ms. Lewis when her hair caught on fire. Ms. Lewis told Det. Patterson that Lewis told Ms. Lewis to then get out of the residence so that the residence would not smell from her hair being on fire.
As a result of the incident, Ms. Lewis suffered burn injuries to her face, neck, and head, as well as losing a significant portion of her hair.
Based on this information, Det. Patterson obtained an arrest warrant for Lewis. The warrant was served on Lewis on February 23, with Lewis bonding out on a $25,000 bond the same day.
Det. Patterson is continuing the investigation. Det. Patterson was assisted by Detective Ryan Jones, Detective Jay Picard, Sergeant Ron Hellard, Sergeant Alex Wesley, and Court Security Rod Mclin.
