Candidates are set for May Primary

This past Friday was the filing deadline for the May Primary following is the list of local candidates:

For the County Attorney’s office, Republicans Rhett Ramsey and Travis Wayne Bell will be on the ballot.

In the race for Wayne County Sheriff, the incumbent Tim Catron will be opposed by Cody Neal.

Magistrate in District one, Incumbent Ronnie Turner will be opposed by Eddie Norfleet

District 2 Magistrate Jeff Dishman will see opposition from Bobby Dwaine Stinson & Scottie Wayne Hicks.

In District 3, Wade Dick will be challenged by Ray C. Upchurch and Austin Vaughn. The winner will have November opposition from Democrat David Bell.

District 4 magistrate Jonathon Dobbs will be opposed by Mathew Mills and James B. Sloan.

Four contested candidates will be on the Constable District 2 Ballot in May.  Those include Danny Wallace, Jimmy Dishman, Keith Cash, & Rodney Lowe.                                                                Calvin Jackson Kennett the third is an independent candidate.

District Judge 40th District Division 1, Incumbent Scarlett Latham is unopposed.

The Race for 52nd State House of Representative will have Kevin Jones and Micah Jonah Neal on the ballot for the position that covers Wayne, McCreary, and a portion of Pulaski Counties

District Judge 40th Division 2 features Tom Simmons, Lee Whittenburg, and Athena Cooper Bradshaw on the ballot. The division 2 judgeship will cover a portion of Wayne, Clinton , and Russell Counties

Races that are unopposed include County Judge Executive Scott Gehring, County Court Clerk Heather Morrow Peircy, PVA Bobby Upchurch, Jailer Ronnie Ellis, and Coroner Gordon Hicks.
