According to Wayne County Sheriff Tim Catron a suspicious person complaint with a gun has resulted in a Bronston KY. man being arrested on drug related charges.
On August 12, 2025, at approximately 9:20 am Wayne County Sheriff Office Deputy James Barnett was dispatched by the Wayne County 911 Dispatch Center to the Hardwick Cemetery Road for the complaint. Upon his arrival Deputy Barnett contacted a male sitting in a pickup truck on the side of the roadway. Deputy Barnett observed a crossbow with a scope laying in the front seat of the vehicle. Also, Deputy Barnett observed a glass smoking pipe commonly used with illegal narcotics that was partly covered up. After running the male’s identification through the Dispatch Center, Deputy Barnett learned the male also an active arrest warrant out of Pulaski County. While having the male exit his vehicle to make the arrest for the warrant Deputy Barnett noticed the male was attempting to hide an item from him. A search for the item it was found to be a small metal vial canister which contained a plastic baggie with a crystal substance known to be methamphetamine.
Deputy Barnett charged and arrested Billy Hughes of Bronston, Ky. for possession of a controlled substance-1st degree (methamphetamine) and possession of drug paraphernalia. Hughes was also arrested on the Pulaski County District Court Warrant of Arrest for failure to appear for Diversion Completion on the underlying charge of failure of owner to maintain required insurance.
Hughes was lodged in the Wayne County Detention Center.
