According to Wayne County Sheriff Tim Catron, a Wayne County man has been arrested after fleeing from Deputies on foot.
On August 9, 2025, at approximately 3am Deputies Nick Bertram and Brad Tucker responded to a residence on Spann Hill Road looking for a suspect in a recent burglary and was known to them for having active arrest warrants. As Deputies approached the residence, one Deputy approached towards the front of the residence while the other Deputy positioned himself on the opposite side. The man noticed the Deputies and then came out of the front door and fled on foot. Deputies gave a foot chase with one Deputy deploying his taser during the chase. Deputies then took the fleeing man to the ground and secured his arrest.
Deputy Bertram charged Kyle Hicks of Monticello, Ky. for fleeing or evading Police-2nd degree (on foot) and resisting arrest. Hicks was also arrested on a Kentucky Parole Board Parole Violation Warrant of Arrest for absconding parole supervision, failure to attend treatment for substance abuse, failure to report to Parole Officer as directed and on a Wayne County Circuit Court Warrant of Arrest for Probation Violation on the underlying charge of leaving the scene of an accident/failure to render aid.
Hicks was lodged in the Wayne County Detention Center.
The investigation into the burglary is continuing.
