According to Wayne County Sheriff Tim Catron a Somerset, Ky. man has been arrested after two deputies avoided been hit head on.
On August 1, 2025, at approximately 8:20 pm, Deputies Valis Smedley and Jerry Meadows were traveling on Kentucky Highway 1275 North while on regular patrol. As they were entering a curve, the Somerset man’s vehicle was traveling on the wrong side of the roadway at a high rate of speed while exiting the curve. The Deputies had to take evasive action to avoid having a head on collision which caused them to leave the roadway.
The Deputies then turned around and activated their emergency equipment to catch up and stop the fleeing vehicle. The vehicle failed to stop initially and finally came to a stop on Kentucky Highway 1619.
Deputy Smedley charged and arrested Micah Dobbs of Somerset, KY. for 2 counts of wanton endangerment-2nd degree (on Police Officer), fleeing or evading Police-3rd degree, reckless driving and improperly traveling on the left side of a roadway.
The Wayne County Sheriff Office also arrested the following.
Sherry Huff of Bronston, KY. was arrested for failure to give the right of way to an emergency vehicle, driving on a driving under the influence suspended operator’s license and no registration plate.
Joshua L. Guffey of Monticello, KY. was arrested for alcohol intoxication in a public place, menacing and disorderly conduct-2nd degree.
Roscoe Shelton of Monticello, KY. was arrested on a Kentucky Parole Borad Parole Violation Warrant of Arrest for absconding parole supervision, failure to complete treatment for substance abuse and failure to report to Parole Officer as directed.
Jacob T. Dodd of Monticello, KY. was arrested on a Pulaski County Circuit Court Warrant of Arrest for Probation Violation on burgaly-3rd degree and probation violation (for felony offense).
Dobbs, Huffy, Guffey, Shelton and Dodd were lodged in the Wayne County Detention Center.
