According to Wayne County Sheriff Tim Catron a report of a domestic violence complaint between a mother and son has resulted in the son being arrested.
On February 24, 2025, at approximately 6:30 pm, Deputies Valis Smedley, Brad Tucker and Jerry Meadows were dispatched to a residence on Bobby Tucker Road for the domestic violence complaint. The mother was located at a nearby neighbor’s residence and stated to Deputy Smedley that she and her son had gotten into a verbal argument that turned physical. During the altercation the son caused minor injuries to his mother, and when she attempted to leave the residence, he blocked her from leaving on two different occasions. The son also grabbed the mother’s purse and broke her cell phone before allowing her leave. The mother refused any medical treatment.
Deputy Smedley charged and arrested Scotty Dobbs of Monticello, KY. for assault-4th degree-domestic violence (minor injury), unlawful imprisonment-1st degree and criminal mischief-2nd degree. Dobbs was also arrested on a Wayne County District Court Warrant of Arrest for failure to appear on the underlying charge of alcohol intoxication in a public place, a Fayette County Circuit Court Warrant of Arrest for failure to appear on the underlying charges of wanton endangerment-1st degree -on Police Officer and 2 counts of assault-3rd degree-on Police Officer and a McCreary County District Court Warrant of Arrest for failure to pay on the underlying charge of alcohol intoxication in a public place.
Dobbs was lodged in the Wayne County Detention Center.
