According to Wayne County Sheriff Tim Catron, a search for a wanted Monticello man has resulted in an arrest of another man on drug charges.
On February 4, 2025, at approximately 3:00 pm Wayne County Sheriff Office Deputies Valis Smedley and James Barnett along with Monticello City Police Officer Casy Lang went to a residence located on Hunter Court in the search of the wanted man. Once entrance was allowed permission was granted to search the residence. Immediately both Deputies and Officer Lang observed drug paraphernalia items lying in plain view. While searching a back bedroom a bag of a crystal substance believed to be methamphetamine along with more drug paraphernalia items were found and seized. Other drug paraphernalia items found by Deputy Smedley and Officer Lang were also seized as well.
Deputy James Barnett charged and arrested Rusty West of Monticello, KY. for possession of a controlled substance-1st degree (methamphetamine) and possession of drug paraphernalia.
West was lodged in the Wayne County Detention Center. The search of the wanted man is continuing by both agencies.
