Recently Monticello Police Chief, Joey Hoover provided an update on the past calendar year and the calls our local police officers received.
2024 was a busy year for your Monticello Police Department. May was our busiest month followed closely by October and August.
Our total activity for the 12-month period was 6,244 “calls for service”. That number includes calls that require officers to respond in-person, walk-ins at the police department, various types of complaints, investigations, arrests, return calls by phone, etc.
This is a summary of last year’s activity: Traffic stops-532, Residential/Commercial Alarms-316, Burglary-34, Thefts-113, Domestic Disputes-88, Disputes/Disturbances-139, Assaults-50, ABC Compliance Inspections-214, DUI-17, Intoxication-38, Juvenile Complaints-56, Loud Music/Noise Complaints-42, Traffic Collisions Investigated-214 (34 involved injuries), Overdose Calls-14, Prowler Complaints-49, Reckless Driving-278, Request for Assistance (all types)-358, Request to Speak with Officer-679, Property Damage/Disputes-40, Request Subject Removed-74, Rape/Sexual Assualt-3, Shoplifting-62, Suspicious Persons-132, Suspicious Activity-113, Suspicious Vehicle-36, Trespassing-27 and Well-Being Checks-181.
378 individuals were arrested on a total of 750 charges including felony & misdemeanor offenses and traffic violations.
