The Wayne County Board of Education held its regularly scheduled meeting on
Thursday, December 19th, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. Superintendent Don Neal took a moment
to honor two board members, Melissa Upchurch and Larry Muse, whose terms are
coming to a close. Both have dedicated 20 years of service to the Wayne County
School System, and their commitment to the staff and students is deeply appreciated.
The board approved the Comprehensive District Improvement Plan, which outlines
strategies for enhancing educational outcomes across the district. The Improvement
Plan for the Middle School was also approved, aiming to address specific needs and
foster academic growth.
The board decided to postpone the decision on the school calendar until the newly
elected board members take office. The consent agenda items were reviewed and
approved, concluding the scheduled business of the meeting.
