Hit and Run investigation Leads to an Arrest

At 7:38 p.m. Monday (Dec 2) Officer Casey Lang responded to a report of a hit & run collision at the intersection of North Main Street & Park Avenue. Initial information described a white sedan with severe front-end damage fled the scene of the collision, traveling north on Main Street.
Additional information provided to the MWC911 Center reported the fleeing vehicle was observed traveling onto KY 1275 North, Rogers Grove Road and then Sally Burnett Road.
WCSO Deputy Allen Cash located the damaged vehicle, with the driver still behind the wheel, in a driveway on Sally Burnett Road. Officer Lang responded to that location and arrested Makenzie Brown, 22, on numerous charges including: Leaving the Scene of an Accident, Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree, DUI, Reckless Driving, Disorderly Conduct and Menacing.
Brown was charged with Assault 3rd Degree for “spitting on a female Deputy Jailer” while being processed at the WCDC. Brown was also served with an indictment warrant from a 2023 case charging her with Possession of a Controlled Substance 1st Degree (meth), DUI, Careless Driving and Obstructed Vision and/or Windshield.
