Monticello Man Arrested on multiple charges including assaulting a Deputy and an Hospital Worker

According to Wayne County Sheriff a Monticello man has been arrested on multiple charges including assaulting a Deputy and a hospital worker.
The incident occurred on September 21, 2024, at approximately 5:30 pm when Wayne County Sheriff’s Office Deputies responded to a residence on Furnace Mountain Road for a dispute.
Once on scene, the Deputies learned that a male subject had assaulted another male at that residence and was now standing in a nearby field screaming. When the male subject noticed a Deputy coming towards him, he fled into a wooded area running through a briar patch while doing so. While fleeing the male subject failed to follow the deputy’s commands to stop and while trying to cross a fence, he became entangled allowing Deputy Derek Dennis too caught up to him. The male became combative with Deputy Dennis and had to be physically restrained. After being taken into custody the male was then taken to the Wayne County Hospital by Deputy Dennis for treatment due to his intoxication levels. While being treated at the hospital the male subject became combative again biting a nurse and kicking a Deputy while being treated and had to being restrained again. After being medically cleared, he was transported to and lodged in the Wayne County Detention Center.
