(WKYT) – The U.S. Forest Service at Daniel Boone National Forest addressed potential safety risks with low water levels at Laurel River Lake.
The lake’s levels are currently 10 feet below the normal summer pool, according to officials. Due to low water levels, water access walkways and boat ramps may be steeper than usual and potentially unusable until water levels rise, officials say.
Officials with the forest service say to do the following before visiting the lake:
- Check current lake levels for Laurel River Lake. Normal summer pool sits at 1015 feet.
- Confirm the status of boat ramps and water access points
- Contact the chosen marina to confirm operating status, as concessionaire-operated marinas may close or offer reduced services
