Monticello Elementary has been awarded the PBIS Tier 3 Seal of Excellence by the Southeast/South‑Central Educational Cooperative, placing the school among the top 7% of PBIS‑implementing schools across 177 schools in 26 districts.
PBIS, which stands for Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports, is a nationally recognized approach schools use to build a positive learning environment. It focuses on teaching and encouraging good behavior, creating consistent expectations, and providing extra help for students who need additional support.
The Tier 3 Seal of Excellence is the highest level of recognition a school can earn. To receive it, Monticello Elementary had to show:
- Strong, school‑wide expectations for behavior,
- A safe and supportive learning environment,
- Effective use of data to identify student needs,
- Individualized support for students who require more help, and
- Active involvement from staff, families, and the community.
School leaders say the award reflects the dedication of students, teachers, families, and community partners who work together to create a positive culture at Monticello Elementary. They say the school remains committed to supporting every child’s success, every day.
