Funding is Secure for a new Water Treatment Facility in Albany

Albany has secured a major federal investment to build a new water treatment facility, with the city receiving more than $24 million in grant funding.

Mayor James Bray announced the $24.8 million award on Wednesday, noting that the grant comes from the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration.

Bray said the effort to obtain the funding began in 2024, when he submitted the application aimed at creating a long‑term fix for the city’s water infrastructure.
