(WKYT) – A person was rescued after a logging accident near Lake Cumberland in Russell County on Thursday.
The accident happened at 1:30 p.m. in the Jabez area, when a falling tree struck the individual, causing them to fall nearly 200 feet down an embankment.
Russell County Search & Rescue, along with several other emergency teams, was able to safely retrieve the individual by using rope systems to lower different rescuers down to the individual. The individual was then hoisted back up the embankment in a Stokes basket.
They were then transported by helicopter for treatment, but no information about their current condition was made available.
