(WKYT) – A former Murray Police officer has been indicted on charges stemming from an alleged inappropriate relationship with a minor, according to the Kentucky Attorney General’s Office.
Justin Swope, 44, faces the following charges:
- One count of first-degree unlawful transaction with a minor-victim under 16;
- One count of first-degree unlawful transaction with a minor-victim under 18;
- Ten counts of promoting a sexual performance by a minor-victim under 18;
- Four counts of third-degree sodomy;
- Ten counts of third-degree rape;
- Two counts of first-degree sexual abuse.
According to the indictment, the female victim was just 15 years old when the alleged abuse began in 2018; it continued through 2021 while Swope was employed as an officer with the Murray Police Department.
During the three years, Swope allegedly sent the girl inappropriate photos of himself and forced her to do the same, while also forcing her to take part in intimate acts, often in a parked car.
