(WYMT) – Four churches have partnered to launch a new chapter of Celebrate Recovery and Warriors Anonymous at Regency Cinema in London.
Faith Assembly of God, Freedom Christian Fellowship, Soul’s Harbor and Bethel Multicultural Church are hosting the joint ministry at the cinema, located at 1868 Highway 192 West.
Rodney Goodlett, pastor of Faith Assembly of God, said the location was chosen to remove barriers for people seeking help.
“We wanted to remove any hindrance that might keep someone from getting the help they need. Not everyone may attend church, but chances are, they’ve been to a cinema before,” Goodlett said. “We’re hoping that this location will be a comfortable place where people who are struggling with life’s hurts, hang-ups and habits can experience lasting freedom and hope.”
Meetings will be held every Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at the cinema. Cinema owner Steve Robinson is donating an auditorium for the meetings on Tuesday nights, when the theater is closed for business.
“Recovery is possible, and I’m proud to offer a safe location in our community for those who are ready to begin their own journey of healing,” Robinson said.
Jerry Lewis, pastor of Freedom Christian Fellowship, said the ministry will reach beyond church walls.
“Jesus is the way, the truth and the life, and through Him, we believe we can help people truly live again,” Lewis said.
Brad Parrett, pastor of Souls’ Harbor, said the meetings are open to anyone facing life challenges, not just those dealing with addiction or substance abuse.
Carlos Castelan, pastor of Inglesia Hispana Bethel Multicultural Church, said he has been in recovery from alcoholism for nearly 20 years.
“While Jesus is the answer, there is added strength in community. That’s why we’re here – to walk with you through the dark days and encourage you along the way,” Castelan said.
Initial meetings will feature large group worship, testimonies, devotionals and refreshments. The group plans to add small group meetings and other resources in the future.
