(WKYT) – A woman charged in a 1991 cold case murder has had her bond lowered.
Jennifer Cummins, 55, was arrested in Fairfax, Virginia, in connection to her infant’s death. Police say someone left the infant in a dumpster on the campus of Eastern Kentucky University. The baby was later found at the old Richmond landfill.
The bond was lowered to $50,000 Monday. Only 10% of the bond is required to be posted, and can only be done by her husband. In an April 9 court session, the judge had concerns about lowering the bond from $1,000,000. She expressed doubts about Cummins appearing in court, as she’d be residing in Virginia while awaiting further court dates.
The judge considered the defense and prosecution’s agreement to reduce her bond, and ultimately allowed it.
